Yesterday we went to Mansfield Town for the 1st time. All around the ground was very busy so we parked in the dairy up the road. It was full of old milk floats so we sat in one….
The town fans were loud from the start but the players didn’t start very quickly. Mansfield wanted to play the long ball to Green (no relation to 2 of the Mini Mariners) who a few times early on got behind our defence that looked slow. Luckily the new defender Danny Collins cleared a few and Ben Davies cleared a shot that was goal bound.
In the 17th minute Omar Bogle won a penalty when he was brought down by a sliding keeper. Maybe it was because they watered it so much before the game!! He scored and town went one up, seeing the rest of the half out comfortably.
Half time was entertaining, Mansfield decided the pitch needed watering AGAIN except the wind meant the fans got a watering instead! It was very funny.
Ashley Chambers found his way through the Mansfield defence but having done the hard work passed when 1 on 1 with the keeper. It made for a nervy ending but we hung on to get another 3 points on the road.
We have 2 home games now to really help our points before the long long trip to Exeter!
